Insurance, signatures and damage claims

What coverage is included, when to add insurance or a signature, and what to do if a package is damaged or lost.

Updated September 25, 2026

Coverage included with your label

Most UPS, FedEx and USPS services include carrier liability up to $100 of declared value. Coverage and exclusions follow the carrier’s terms.

Adding insurance

For an item worth more than $100, add insurance when you create the shipment and enter the declared value.

Requiring a signature

Choose adult signature on the shipment and the carrier collects a signature from an adult at delivery. Use it for valuable items or when the package should not be left at the door.

Packing to prevent damage

  • Use a sturdy box in good condition. Boxes that have been shipped before are weaker.
  • Leave room for about 2 inches of cushioning on every side, and fill empty space so the item cannot move.
  • Wrap each item separately when you ship more than one.
  • Seal every seam with packing tape, and remove or cover old labels and barcodes.

If a package arrives damaged or goes missing

  1. Track the package to see the latest carrier scans.
  2. If it arrived damaged, keep the box and all packing material, and take photos of the box, the packing and the item.
  3. Contact us with the tracking number, the photos and proof of the item value, such as an invoice.

Claims have a deadline. The reporting window and how claims are paid are in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.
